Christina Athinodorou

The Greek-Cypriot composer and conductor Christina Athinodorou (b.1981) studied composition and conducting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (Bachelor and Master degrees), and at the CNSMD de Lyon. Her music has been played in many European countries, America and Japan, by many ensembles including Sentieri Selvaggi, Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble Wien, Jyväskylä Sinfonia Finlandia, Endymion Ensemble, Elias String Quartet etc. She received the Aristotle University Chamber Music Composition Prize (Thessaloniki 2005), the Aldworth Philharmonic Orchestra Young Composers’ Award (UK, 2006-07), the Second Premio GERMI (Rome 2009) and various scholarships. As a conductor she worked with the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, the IEMA Frankfurt 2009 and others. She recently completed her residency as a composer at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, as well as her PhD in Composition at the Royal Holloway University of London. Sa musique a été jouée en Europe, en Amerique et au Japon, par plusieurs ensembles comme Sentieri Selvaggi, Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble Wien, Jyväskylä Sinfonia Finlandia, Ensemble Endymion, Quatuor à Cordes Elias etc. Elle à decerné le prix panhellénique de composition de l’Université Aristote (Thessalonique 2005), le Prix du concours pour jeunes compositeurs de l’Orchestre Philharmonique Aldworth (Royaume Uni, 2006-07), le 2ème Premio GERMI (Rome 2009) et plusieurs bourses. Comme chef d’orchestre, elle a travaillé avec l’Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música, l’lEMA Frankfurt et autres. Christina a été en résidence artistique à la Cité Internationale des Arts de Paris (2009-10) et elle a récemment obtenu son doctorat en Composition à l'Université de Londres Royal Holloway. http://www.athinodorou.com
