Ulrich Alexander Kreppein was born in 1979. Since his early ages he composed music and was awarded several prices, such as “Jugend komponiert”, the “Saarbrückener Komponistenwerkstatt” and a prize at the “Musica Sacra Competition” in Poland. He received scholarships from the “Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes” and the DAAD. His main teachers include Manfred Trojahn and Tristan Murail. He completed his Diploma in Düsseldorf and is currently pursuing his PhD at Harvard University, where he studies with Brian Ferneyhough, Helmut Lachenmann, Julian Anderson, Joshua Fineberg, and Hans Tutschku. His music has been performed at Berliner Philharmonie, Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as in Moscow, Düsseldorf, Munich and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
